I recently discovered Unusual Hotels of the World, “the online guide for travelers interestedinstaying somewhere truly different,” and was pleasantly surprised to find a few hotels in North America I’d like to check in to some day.
Want to slay a night under water? Jules Undersea Lodge in Key Largo, Florida, is for you.
I have secret interest in trains, so I’d like to know more about The Station Restaurant & Sleeping Cars in Ithaca, New York, and The Aurora Express of Fairbanks, Alaska.
I’ll have to remember Time Hotel, as it looks like urban chic on the cheap—rooms are under $100/night on 49th Street! But the flipside of that coin must be Kokopelli’s Cave in Farmington, New Mexico.
Not listed are at least two US hotels that host guests in Airstream trailers, or the Amargosa Hotel, but I’ll forgive the site those omissions for now. It looks like the sort of site that could grow into something comprehensive and useful over time.
