Kite Aerial Photography

Look, it's some guy holding a kite string, who's holding the camera up there?I got sort of excited about kite aerial photography a couple of weeks ago in a post about photoblogging. I was amazed with Scott Haefner‘s work and especially impressed with his VR picture of Slain’s Castle in Scotland. Scott is pretty serious about KAP, and it shows in his description of his rig, but what’s an amateur or naive fool to do?

Engadget is doing features on things to do with an old digital camera, and this week they tackled kite aerial photography. This article builds on one last week about modifying the camera to automatically and repeatedly take pictures until it filled its storage card. The point is: they’re doing the job with a lighter kit and fewer expensive parts. Cool.
