This is what I liked about the Event Calendar plugin, too. I set up a Wordpress site for a small, local assocation and not all contributors were completely as ease with computers, much less blogging. It was much easier to teach them to use the same interface (”Write Post”) for adding an event as they used for submitting a new article.
