oddly I've been having weird feelings abotu the red cross ever since reading the blood brokers site *and* being reminded how the CEO of the red cross resigned in the wake of big 9/11 controversies that were never adequately explained. One of the issues seemed to be how much blood they collected versus how much blood they threw out (no one likes to talk about throwing out blood, but it still can't be adequately preserved for long, unlike plasma, iirc) as well as claiming all donations were going to 9/11 victims which turned out not to be true. Also, I almost donated blood yesterday, around here they make home made food that you can snack on when you're done. Beats a lollipop.[tags]jessamyn redcross 911[/tags]
