In 2002, Xiaobei Cheng launched the project, building the museum and organizing artists, which 
was finally completed after seven years. Now we believe that the musuem is one-of-a-kind in 
 

the world for these reasons: 
   1ã€ Here we have gathered together the most distinguished contemporary artists in China,
 including Canxueã€Xichuanã€Wenbo Sunã€Jie Jiang  Li Zeng,ã€
 and invested more than 50 million RMB to establish one main  exhibition center and  more than
 twenty studios for individual artists.
 
2ã€ We have a group of excellent architects,includin Yonghe Zhangã€Jiakun Liu ã€Wen-Andyã€
Yan Quã€Dan Suã€Wei Zhou,whose works are highly original and experimental,aiming
 at a revolution of Chinese architects.

3ã€The artists themselves working together to make decisions for the museum in the 
Art committee, the Architecture Committee, and the Service Center.

They make decisions for all the artistic activities and the artist name list(Including art work planã€

They are responsible to evaluate the works and activities,including table of contents of art
 publication by Publicity Dep., to recommend the yearly name list of the artists, critical reviews 
by the writers of the museuem); 
5ã€They supervise the training and workshops of art in the Museum.

  They make the rules for the buildings in Shangyuan art base and checked each buildingâ€™s design 
according to these rules;
 They will eventually help found The Museum of Modern Chinese Architecture.
As a general mission, the art base will exerts its influence uopn the history of modern Chinese 
art and culture. Xiaobei Cheng will write Shangyuan artist communities-constructing the story,a 
repotage to retell the history of the founding of the musuem.

Every year, 5-10 foreign artists and 10 Chinese artists will be invited to make their works or 
academic exchanges in Shangyuan Museum of Art. These artists should inform and confirm their 
schedule with Our Museum in due course. We will provide their travel and accommodation fees.
 
Publicity Dep.
To communicate with international and domestic pressman. Art and culture communities, 
Culture officers, Give publicities for each activity.
To organize the writers to hold â€œ Shangyuan Art critical Reviewsâ€, and promote the artists works.
To enhance the power of Shangyuan art website.
Edit and Publish the art works timely.

Facilities provided for artists: Apartment, bar and restaurants, business center 
Organize auctions and exhibitions of art works, Art training and education,
 International art works and education exchange.

 Those twenties Buildings were designed by architects and the artists themselves, these buildings 
were designed according to the features and characters of the hill and the land, those buildings 
are expressing the unique concept of simplified and recreation which were not any  simplified 
copies from any Europeanizeã€ancient and folk styles.  
 As the founders of the museum, Xiaobei Chen and the artists have gone through all kinds of 
difficulties in the past few years. Without their huge efforts it is unbelievable that they could 
complete project to establish the art base with their limits resoucese. 
 
 
Brief introduction of initiator Xiaobei Cheng
 Xiaobei Cheng, female, writer, poet, and photographer. In the1980s when she was a doctor she
 began to write poems and published â€œLove of lifeâ€â€œOne stolen penâ€â€œShe runs in and outâ€ï¼›in 1997she began to write novel and published novel â€œLife nowhereâ€ã€â€œAre you crazyï¼â€.

In 1987, She travelled to shoot pictures, starting from Chengdu to several revolutionary bases in 
Sichuan, Shanbei Plateau, Shanxi, Gunsu, Ningxia and then she went to 
Shanxi and Hebei and finally arrived in Beijing. She spent two months and took more than 
10,000 photos. She created stories and long poems out of the rearrangement of the pictures, 
 among which â€œSeason of Weedsâ€  â€œI should singâ€ have been published in Youth and Qingnian 
Wen Xue,  searching for  new expressions for literary art. Some of the works have been 
exhibited worldwide and used as cover pages for books, journals and magazines. In 2006
 she set the unit of â€œPhotography Artâ€ in â€œShangyuan Art Museum Architecture action Art 
exhibitionâ€.</description>
