I don't pay a monthly access fee to Verizon except for the standard data package. I know that the new 700p models have DUN out of the box and Verizon is now charging a $15 fee. You actually don't need the patch at all if you have the latest firmware version (you can get it from Palm's website, if you're phone didn't come with it). It works very well.
