Hey, doesn’t the IKEA near Boston open today? Sure does. The company has 226 stores worldwide.
According to a story in the Pheonix:
Oddly enough, IKEA flopped when it opened its first US store in 1986. But by making concessions to American expectations (softer couches, American bed sizes, good thread counts) it gradually won over low-budget consumers attracted to its upmarket design, with its subtle implications of class mobility. That they were willing to bruise their toes lifting those deceptively heavy boxes speaks to the brand’s participatory appeal [...]. It’s all part and parcel of IKEA’s goal “to create a better everyday life for the many people.”

this is the worst web site ever!!! i am looking for the boston store locations (i.e. street name, location, directions)….. there is nothing like that on this site…… it is the worst.
Alexis: you’re right. No street name, no directions. I did, however, include a link to Google Maps that identifies the location on Stockwell Drive in Stoughton. Here it is again:

I AM LOOKING FOR LOCATIONS AND ALL I GET IS JUNK. WHERE ARE THE LOCATIONS , AND ADDRESSES. HOW DO YOU EXPECT PEOPLE TO SHOP AT YOUR STORE IF THEY CAN NOT FIND YOU. I THINK YOU SHOULD FIRE THE ONE THAT MADE THIS WEB PAGE.

I have been trying for over an hour to simply find the address of your store in Easton, Mass. No luck at all. I do not intend to travel from my home to Easton when I have no directions on finding you. My MapQuest requires AN ADDRESS to map my trip. Thank you very much for nothing. You ALMOST make me sorry I am a Swede. Steven.

Why doesn’t Ikea start running a shuttle bus service for those of us who want to visit the store but have no way of getting there.
There is a bus company that runs Shuttle buses to hard to reach places. The companies name is Local Motion Of Boston
located @ 161 North St. Newton, MA Phone number: (617)558-5454.
Why don’t you call this company and make shuttle arrangements? Maybe people like me can pick up the shuttle bus at one of the commuter rail stations along Main St. or at the Bat Bus Sta. Please help us get to Ikea the shuttle buses will bring us right to the main entrance of Ikea and back to the Station. Thank you.

If your looking fro a location just go on the website pick Ikea near you…click on the one near you and it pops up with directions and a map and the address …Its not that hard…..Ive never had a problem using the site. Are you sure your on their site…..Ikea.com? I think its one of the better sote out there as far as ease of use…If your really confused…Just ask anna….Shes usually helpful!
