Delicious, Refreshing, Old Liquor Bottles
So grenadine isn’t officially a liquor, but it gets kept behind the bar and this one has a great label. The collection comes from the estate of a friend’s mother, who appears to have had a taste for old martini culture (not pictured are several bottles of vermouth).
There’s more in my Flickr photoblog.

This month I found two whiskey bottles that have no marking on them and look like standard pint whisky bottles and are amber or dark brown colored and were identical. They only say Federal law prohibits the sale of alcohlic beverages on them. they were found at a since closed down and removed lumber mill site in California. I belive it shut down in the 50’s. Doea anyone have any idea what they might be. I thought the bottles were sold to people who may have made their own whisky and would put t up in these containers.
I have one unopened bottle of Hennessy Cognac, it is a green glass barrel type bottle with five gold bands on it, the top part of the bottle is marked V S O P Reserve the net contents are shown as 33.33 fluip Oz.
It was bought from a US military PX store in Frankfurt Germany in the mid to late 60’s
I am interested in finding out the value and history.
Many thanks,
Chris.
I have an unopened, sealed bottle of Liqueur Galliano still in the box. The tax seal is marked 2-1-1940. The labels are not cracked or faded at all and the bottle is tall and slender and kind of fluted at the bottom. I am wondering if it has any value, and any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a walk in closet of scotches and many other full vintage bottles of fine liquors from the past 50-75 years that was in my family all this time. There are 5-6 crates, only 2 have been opened and so many different brands of liquors, most of them top of the line and some are in very fancy bottles.
Is there anyone out there who can appraise either in person or by description or photo or both.
I believe there is a lot of healthy value in this collection of hundreds of sealed bottles.
Please respond to Steve at s777uccess@aol.com if you have any information that will prove helpful to me.
Thank you.

My husband and I found an old bottle of Seagram’s 7 Crown in a house we were cleaning out for some friends and they said we could keep it. It’s unopened as the red tax stamp is still in tact. It’s a series 112 Bottle Stamp and the serial # is 108473664. We were just wondering if anyone might know what year it is from. Thank you.
I have three bottles I found in my grandfathers basement after he died. First off he was in film back in the 50’s and was a very good friend of Charlie Chaplin. The reason this is significant is that one of the bottles I found is a “Very Old Fitzgerald” Kentucky bourbon that has a custom label that reads “for the personal use of Charles Chaplin.” It was barreled in 1946 and bottled in 1953. It was kept in a cool dark place for all these years so the reduction of its contents is minimal. Second is a bottle of “Hennesy XO” in a gift box and probably dating back to the early to mid 50’s. this bottle was kept in the same place as the other and is still very drinkable. Third is a bottle of “Martins” De Luxe 12 year old scotch whiskey. All the bottles were kept very well and all have the same federal warning printed in the glass at the back of the bottle (”Federal law forbids sale or re-use of this bottle”) If there is anyone who can tell me the possible value of these bottles please email me at timwarren1982@gmail.com

I have an unopened bottle of Old Kentucky Tavern with the liquor tax paid stamp on it. On the lid it has a green sticker that reads “bottled in bond under the supervision of the u.s. government in the internal revenue bonded warehouse” spring 1949 fall 1956. It is inside a case that is made to look like a book called “A SIMPLE EXPLANATION OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS” Published by TRUE DAVIS, with two shot glasses inside as well. Does this have any value?
